The best tool I ever discovered for helping myself think is drafting. Write something once and you get a hint of what you think. Rewrite it a second time and you get an idea of what you think. Rewrite it a third and a fourth time and suddenly you get clear about what you think.

I'm used to insight happening in fits and bursts. Drafting is the only tool I have ever been able to use that helps me come up with insight on demand.
