I actually wrote an article titled "The Metaverse is Creepy" immediately after Facebook did its rebrand.

It remains one of my better articles, in terms of the number of views it's gotten, in spite of the fact that it is way too long (over 20 minutes) and pretty cumbersome to read.

I'm not bringing it up for the purposes of a shameless self-plug, though. I'm bringing it up because of the views it's received, the bulk of them have come from Google searches or other search engines. Turns out the title, which I came up with based on my gut reaction, is also enough of a gut reaction for other people that they type it into their search engine with some regularity.

Bizarrely I thought the article had tapered off by December. Then a steady stream of interest in it popped up in mid-January and it has received a modest amount of daily attention since then.
