While I agree with you wholeheartedly here I would also observe that it's probably even more accurate to say that the whataboutism fallacy was invented by married couples in general.

And the concept was then co-opted and wielded with brutal political and social effect by the British Isles as a whole.

Kind of like side-eye, gentle sarcasm, and self-deprecating wit. Except less fun.
